Bachelor of Education (BEd)
The Laurier BEd program has expanded to Laurier's Brantford campus for fall 2022.
The Laurier BEd program is highly progressive and future-oriented. Our courses blend knowledge, skills and global competencies that focus on the diverse needs of children and youth. We designed our full-time, 2-year BEd program to prepare you to teach students in primary and junior grades (Kindergarten to Grade 6) or junior and intermediate grades (Grades 4 to 10).
Minor in Community Health
Students on Laurier's Brantford campus can now study the biological sciences and their impact on public health by taking a minor in Community Health. The minor in Community Health consists of 3.0 credits, 2.0 of which are senior.
Minor in Computer Science
A minor in Computer Science is now available to students on the Brantford campus. This minor consists of 3.0 credits taken among programs in the Computer Science program. Three required core courses, for a total of 1.5 credits, are Introduction to Programming, Data Structures I and Introduction to Object-Oriented Programming. The additional 1.5 credits are earned by taking a selection of senior-level Computer Programming elective courses.
Human Rights and Human Diversity Certificate
New undergraduate Certificate in Non-Profit Career Foundations added to the Human Rights and Human Diversity program.
Digital Media and Journalism Certificate
- New undergraduate Certificate in Digital Media Production added to the Digital Media and Journalism program.
- New undergraduate certificates in Digital Media Skills I and Digital Media Skills II offered by the Digital Media and Journalism program.
English Proficiency Requirement
Laurier has added two additional ways for students to provide proof of English proficiency.
Duolingo is now an accepted test for proof of English proficiency for all upcoming terms at Laurier. The minimum score required is 115.
Laurier has also partnered with Kaplan International English School. Students who successfully complete Kaplan’s Advanced Level (C1) will meet Laurier’s English proficiency requirement.
