Language Requirements

The minimum number of years required to waive requirements is 4 years of full-time secondary or postsecondary study, demonstrating satisfactory academic progress in an English-language school system. A 4U English is also required.

Integrated Admission Pathway (IAP)

Academically qualified international students who have not yet achieved English language proficiency may be interested in the Integrated Admission Pathway (IAP). Through IAP you can complete degree-credit courses through the University's Open Learning and Educational Support department (OpenEd) and at the same time study English language courses to achieve the Certificate of English proficiency.

The IAP includes a combination of classroom-based and fully online degree course offerings and provides a flexible option for guaranteed admission to select degree programs at the University of Guelph.

Minimum TOEFL Score

IBT: Minimum total score of 89 with no individual scaled score less than 21

CBT: Minimum score of 250 with a Test of Written English score of 5

PBT: Minimum score of 600 and a score of 5 on the Test of Written English (TWE)

Minimum IELTS Score Minimum 6.5 with no band below 6
Minimum CAEL Score Minimum overall band score of 70
PTE (Pearson Test of English) Minimum overall score of 60 with no score less than 60 in the individual components
Other Test Scores Successful completion of the University of Guelph, Open Learning Advanced Level of the English Language Certificate Program.
