New Programs
Bachelor of Education (BEd)
The Laurier BEd program has expanded to Laurier's Brantford campus for fall 2022.
Laurier's BEd program is highly progressive and future-oriented. Our courses blend knowledge, skills and global competencies that focus on the diverse needs of children and youth. We designed our full-time, 2-year BEd program to prepare you to teach students in primary and junior grades (Kindergarten to Grade 6) or junior and intermediate grades (Grades 4 to 10).
Program Changes
Minor in Human Rights
The minor in Human Rights is now available to students on the Waterloo campus. The minor consists of 3.0 credits, which includes the course Introduction to Human Rights and 2.5 additional credits taken from courses in the Human Rights and Human Diversity program.
Anthropology
The Anthropology Program has created a new specialization in Intercultural Understanding.
English and Film Studies
The Department of English and Film Studies added a Sussex LB Stream for the Honours BA English program.
Faculty of Education
The Faculty of Education is offering a new Teaching Option.
Geography and Environmental Studies
The Department of Geography and Environmental Studies is offering a new Undergraduate Certificate in Geomatics.
Psychology
The Department of Psychology is offering a new minor and specialization in Applied Development Psychology.
Admission Updates
English Proficiency Requirement
Laurier has added two additional ways for students to provide proof of English proficiency.
Duolingo is now an accepted test for proof of English proficiency for all upcoming terms at Laurier. The minimum score required is 115.
Laurier has also partnered with Kaplan International English School. Students who successfully complete Kaplan’s Advanced Level (C1) will meet Laurier’s English proficiency requirement
