Residences and Meal Plans
$12,385 –$15,205 (includes room, communication fees and an All Access Meal Plan).
Note: Price is for 2023–2024.
Our residences offer 2 types of rooms — traditional- or suite-style. The majority of our rooms for students entering first year are double traditional-style and are assigned as single-gender. A limited number of traditional singles, suite doubles and suite singles are available.
Traditional rooms consist of 1 or 2 beds with shared washroom facilities, the majority of which are double rooms. A limited number of traditional-style rooms are in pods. The pods consist of doubles and singles, a washroom facility and shared common area.
Our suite-style rooms consist of 4-person suites, either 2 doubles or 4 singles, with a shared common area, washroom facility and food preparation area including a fridge and microwave.
Students may request to share a gender-inclusive bedroom, pod or suite (including the common areas and bathroom facilities). If you choose this option, your room-, pod- or suitemates will be assigned through the matching of responses to the profile questions, regardless of which gender you, or they, identify.
Carleton University residence offers you a number of amenities and services:
- Residence buildings that are conveniently located and connected to each other and the rest of campus.
- A large residence cafeteria ("the caf") that offers locally sourced food and an "all-you-care-to-eat" experience.
- An All Access Meal Plan with unlimited entry to the caf.
- An award-winning Residence Life program.
- An extensive residence support network that includes residence counsellors, live-in residence staff and a focus on learning outside the classroom.
At Carleton, a double traditional room is guaranteed to all high school and CEGEP students entering first-year studies in the fall, provided they receive an offer of admission on or before May 17, 2024.
You are required to pay the deposit and accept the residence offer online by June 10, 2024, at 11:59 pm (ET) to confirm your space. If you do not qualify for a guaranteed space in residence, you can still apply. A lottery determines offers for all other residence applications.
The residence deposit is $700, payable by credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express or any Visa/Debit card) or by Interac.
Note: Only customers of RBC Royal Bank, TD Bank or First Nations Bank of Canada may use the Interac option. All residence deposits must be paid through the acceptance process on Carleton Central, not directly through your bank.
First-year students living in residence will be enrolled in the All Access Meal Plan, which provides unlimited entry into our residence dining hall, the caf, and $100 Dining Dollars.
For students living in suite-style residences, there is a Reduced Meal Plan option, which offers 10 meals per week and $300 Dining Dollars.
The caf sources food locally, accommodates dietary needs and offers an “all you care to eat” experience featuring a variety of meals cooked right in front of you.
One residence building offers a room only with no meal plan.
